Wedding entertainment ideas.

Music carries the night; entertainment carries the gaps.

The gaps are cocktail hour, the photo hour, and the lull after speeches.

Cocktail hour (60 to 90 minutes).

Close-up magician: one per 60 to 80 guests; the single most reliable icebreaker for two families who have never met.

Strings or jazz trio: ambience without a dance floor.

During photos.

Guests waiting 90 minutes for the couple is the most common complaint in post-wedding surveys.

A roaming act, lawn games, or a 15-minute aerial or Cyr wheel spectacle fixes it.

Cultural performances.

Dhol players and baraat entertainers for South Asian weddings; lion dance for Chinese banquets; a hora band for Jewish weddings; tarantella or a strolling accordion for Italian; steel pan for Caribbean.

Late night.

LED and glow acts at midnight; a second-wind DJ set; a food truck outside the dock.

Booking notes.

Send the venue every performer's tech rider.

Aerial needs rigging or a free-standing rig; check ceiling height before booking.
