What to include
- The type of event and what you need quoted.
- Your date or date range, and start and end times.
- The approximate guest count, and the venue or area.
- Your budget for this part of the event.
- Anything that limits options: ceiling height, accessibility needs, an outdoor setting, or whether alcohol will be served.

Comparing what comes back
Quotes are easiest to compare when you line them up item by item. Check what is included: setup and teardown time, travel, equipment, staffing, overtime rates and cancellation terms. Ask each vendor for a certificate of insurance if your venue requires one. A lower price that leaves out a service charge or setup time is often not lower at all. Listings in the Directory owned by the site’s founder carry a visible disclosure and are matched by the same criteria as everyone else.
