Module 11: After the Event

Wrap-up and payments, surveys, ROI, building a project write-up and portfolio.

After the Event is part of the free Event Planner Academy. It has 6 lessons, about 1.5 hours of study in total, and every lesson comes with a narrated video, a printable worksheet and a short quiz.

How to work through it

  1. Watch the narrated video at the top of each lesson, then read the lesson itself. The video covers the key points; the page has the tables, examples and checklists.
  2. Complete the worksheet for your own event, or for the running Harbour Gala example.
  3. Take the quiz and mark the lesson complete. Your progress is saved in this browser.
  4. Finish all twelve core modules and pass the final exam to print your free certificate.

Who this module is for

After the Event is for anyone who has delivered an event and wants the work to count for more than one night. New planners learn how to close the books cleanly and protect their reputation with vendors. Corporate and non-profit organisers learn how to report results in a way that leadership, boards and sponsors will accept. Freelancers and small-business owners learn how to turn finished events into the material that wins the next client. It assumes you have worked through the earlier modules or have run at least one event yourself.

What you will be able to do

  • Close every vendor account, rental return and venue obligation within two weeks of the event.
  • Write and send a short post-event survey that people actually answer, and read the results without bias.
  • Calculate cost per attendee and the other measures that matter for your type of event, and present them on one page.
  • Gather testimonials and photographs with the right permissions and build a portfolio page from them.
  • Run a structured debrief that records what to repeat and what to change.

How the lessons build

The order follows the weeks after an event. Wrap-up comes first because unpaid invoices and missing rentals become harder to resolve each day. Feedback comes next, while the experience is fresh for guests. Measurement then turns invoices and survey answers into numbers, and the reporting lesson shows how to present those numbers honestly, including what fell short. The final lessons look outward, to your portfolio and your reputation, and the workshop asks you to produce a complete post-event package for the Harbour Gala example.

Time and connections

Most learners finish the module in two or three short sittings. It draws on the budget tracking from Module 3 and the goals set during discovery in Module 2, since you can only measure success against targets agreed at the start. It leads naturally into Module 12, where the portfolio and testimonials you build here become the foundation of your marketing. Keep the post-event survey template and the ROI calculator open as you work.
