Certificate
Your Event Planner Academy certificate of completion, unlocked by the final exam.
Finish the lessons, pass the final exam with 80 percent or more, and print your Event Planner Academy certificate. It is free.
How to earn it
- Work through the core modules in the Academy and mark each lesson complete.
- Take the final exam: 30 questions drawn from the lesson quizzes, open book, with unlimited retakes.
- Enter your name below and print the certificate or save it as a PDF from your browser’s print menu.
The certificate records that you completed a free self-study course. It is not a government licence or an accredited credential, and it does not replace Smart Serve or any permit an event needs.

Who the certificate is for
The Academy certificate suits anyone who wants a structured, self-paced grounding in event planning for Canada: hosts organising a single wedding or gala, office staff who have inherited the holiday party, volunteers running a fundraiser, students considering the field and new planners building their first client list. It shows that you have worked through the full course and can explain the basics of budgets, venues, contracts, permits, entertainment, event-day management and follow-up. It is free and has no deadline.
How the course builds toward it
The core modules run in planning order. Early lessons cover goals, budgets and timelines; the middle of the course deals with venues, suppliers, food and beverage, entertainment, legal and safety matters and marketing; the final modules cover the event day itself, what happens afterward and, for those going professional, running an event planning business in Ontario. Each module ends with a workshop that asks you to apply the lessons to a sample event, and the short quizzes along the way draw on the same material as the final exam.
Time varies with how carefully you read and if you complete the workshops. Plan on several sessions spread across a few weeks rather than a single sitting. If you only need part of the material, the learning paths group lessons for hosts, specialists and professionals.
Preparing for the final exam
- Revisit the quizzes you found hardest; the exam questions are drawn from them.
- Keep the encyclopedia open: definitions such as F&B minimum, attrition and occupancy load come up often.
- Work through at least one workshop end to end so the steps make sense together.
- Because retakes are allowed, treat a first attempt as a review of what to study.
What to do with it afterward
Add the certificate to a portfolio or LinkedIn profile as completion of a self-study course, described accurately. It pairs well with Smart Serve certification if you will handle alcohol, and with practical experience such as volunteering at a festival or assisting a working planner. If you plan to start a business, continue with the professional path, and when you are ready, sit the final exam.
