Privacy policy

This page explains, in plain language, what personal information EventPlans.ca collects, why, and what control you have over it. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal law that governs how private-sector organisations handle personal information in Ontario.

Our approach

PIPEDA comes down to a few principles we try to live by: collect only what we need, tell you why, get your consent, protect it, and delete it when it is no longer needed.

Information you give us

  • Quote requests. When you use Get quotes, we collect your contact details and event details so we can pass your brief to vendors and venues that match it. Only the details needed to respond are shared, and only with businesses relevant to your request.
  • Newsletter sign-ups. We collect your email address to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any issue.
  • Listing submissions. When a business submits a listing, we collect the business details meant for publication and the contact details we need to verify and manage the listing.
  • Messages. When you use the contact form, we keep your message so we can reply and keep a record of corrections and requests.

Information that stays on your device

My Planner, saved items, checklists and your Academy progress are kept in your own browser’s storage. That information never leaves your device and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it, and it will not follow you to another browser or device.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not use advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it for, or as long as the law requires, and then delete it.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or withdraw your consent. Send your request through the contact page and tell us the email address you used with us. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

How we protect it

Access to submitted information is limited to the people who need it to answer your request or manage the site. We use secure connections for every page and form. No system is perfectly secure, so we collect as little as possible in the first place, which is the best protection there is.

Vendors who receive quote requests

Businesses that receive your brief must use it only to respond to your request. They are not permitted to add you to mailing lists or share your details. If a vendor misuses your information, tell us and we will act on it, up to removing the listing.

Children

The site is meant for adults planning events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you plan a children’s party, please do not include children’s names or other details in forms beyond what a vendor needs, such as the number of guests and their age range.

Changes to this policy

When we change how we handle information, we update this page and note the date of the change.

What we collect

  • Form submissions (name, email, event details) so we can reply and, if you asked for quotes, pass your brief to matching vendors.
  • Newsletter sign-ups.
  • Anonymous analytics (page views, device type). No advertising trackers.
  • “My Planner” data is stored in your browser only and never sent to us.

Your rights

Ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted by emailing us from the contact page. We respond within 30 days.
