Terms of use

These terms explain the basic rules for using EventPlans.ca. By using the site, you agree to them. We have kept them short and in plain language.

Using the site

EventPlans.ca is free to read and use. You may use the guides, tools, templates and Academy to plan your own events and to do your job. Please do not misuse the site: no attempts to break or overload it, no scraping it in bulk, and no submitting false or misleading information.

Calculators and templates

Our calculators give estimates based on common planning assumptions. They are a starting point. Real numbers depend on your venue, your guests, your vendors and the rules that apply to your event. Check the results against your venue’s posted occupant load, your vendors’ quotes and the relevant authority before you commit.

Quote requests

When you send a quote request, we pass your brief to suitable businesses. Any agreement you make is between you and that business. We are not a party to it and are not responsible for a vendor’s performance, pricing or conduct.

Academy certificate

The free Academy certificate shows that you completed the course and passed the final exam. It is not a professional licence or a government-recognised qualification.

Contributions

When you submit a question, article, review, listing or other content, you confirm you have the right to share it and give us permission to edit and publish it on the site. We may decline or remove contributions that break these terms or our editorial policy.

Links to other sites

We link to official sources and other useful sites. We are not responsible for their content.

Reviews

If you post a review, it must describe your own genuine experience with a business you actually hired or visited. Reviews must not be written by the business, its staff or its competitors, and must not be offered in exchange for a discount or payment.

Intellectual property

The text, tools, templates, lessons and design of EventPlans.ca belong to the site or its contributors. Listings, logos and photos supplied by businesses remain theirs. Templates you download and fill in for your own event are yours to use.

Limits of responsibility

We work hard to keep the site accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every page is complete or current at the moment you read it. Rules, fees and prices change. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from relying on the site without confirming the details that matter for your event. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always on this page. Questions go through the contact page.

Plain-language terms for using EventPlans.ca.

Not legal or financial advice

Guides, calculators and templates are general information. Confirm permits, contracts, insurance and tax questions with the issuing authority or a professional.

Listings

Directory information is supplied by businesses and checked where we can. Verify capacities, prices and policies with the venue or vendor before signing. See the vendor listing terms.
