Careers & Community

Job board, free profiles, Ask the Planners, industry calendar, mentorship and student spotlights.

Event planning in the GTA is a small world built on referrals and shared experience. The community section is where we try to make that world easier to enter and easier to navigate.

Why a community section

Most people learn event work on the job: a first coordinator role, a favour for a friend’s wedding, a company party that suddenly became their responsibility. The knowledge that matters is often passed on informally, from the venue manager who explains load-in, or the caterer who warns you about the service charge.

We want to make some of that knowledge easier to reach. The community pages connect people who are starting out with people who have done the work for years, and give working professionals a place to share what they know.

Who it is for

  • New planners and coordinators looking for their first roles, mentors or a sense of where the industry gathers.
  • Students in event management programs who want their work seen.
  • Experienced planners, venue staff and vendors who want to answer questions, mentor, or write about what they have learned.
  • Hosts planning a single event who have a question the guides do not answer.

Ground rules

Be specific, be generous and be honest. Share real experience rather than sales pitches. If you mention a business you are connected to, say so, just as we do with the founder’s own companies. We may edit or decline contributions that read as advertising or that we cannot stand behind.

Learning on your own time

If you would rather build skills first, the free Academy covers the planning process from brief to wrap-up, and the Encyclopedia explains the terms you will hear on the job. Both are good companions to the community pages below.

Getting involved

There is no membership and no fee. You can answer a question, offer an hour as a mentor, nominate a student, submit an event to the calendar or pitch an article. Each of the sections below explains how. If you have an idea for something the community section should offer but does not yet, send it through the contact page. The best parts of this site have come from people who do the work telling us what would have helped them when they started.
