Cookies
EventPlans.ca uses a small amount of browser storage so the site works the way you expect. This page explains what is stored and why.
What we store in your browser
- Light or dark mode. Your display preference, so the site looks the same on your next visit.
- My Planner. Items you save while browsing, such as venues, vendors, guides and tools.
- Checklists. The items you have ticked off on planning checklists.
- Academy progress. Lessons completed and quiz results, so you can pick up where you left off.
This information stays in your browser. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, and it does not carry over to another browser or device.
Analytics
Analytics are used only if the site owner enables them. When they are on, they count visits and pages in aggregate so we can see what is useful, and they are not used for advertising.
Your choices
You can clear or block site storage in your browser settings. The site still works, but your saved items, preferences and progress will not be kept. More detail is in our privacy policy.
A note on shared computers
Because My Planner, checklists and Academy progress live in the browser, anyone who uses the same browser profile can see them. If you plan on a shared or public computer, clear the site data when you finish. If you switch devices, your saved items and progress will not come with you; for the Academy, it is simplest to study on one device from start to finish.
No advertising cookies
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not allow advertisers to place them through our pages.

Why we use browser storage rather than accounts
EventPlans.ca is designed to work without asking you to create an account. Instead of storing your saved venues, ticked checklist items and Academy progress on our servers, the site keeps them in your own browser using local storage. This means you can start planning immediately, nothing you save is linked to your name or email, and there is no profile for us to keep secure. The trade-off is that your information lives on one device and in one browser.
Keeping your planning safe
Because saved items are not backed up by us, it is worth taking a few precautions if you are planning something important. Before clearing your browser history, check whether the option you select also clears site data. Private or incognito windows usually discard storage when closed, so anything saved there will be lost. Browser updates rarely affect stored data, but switching to a different browser or computer means starting again. For long projects, print or export key pages, such as your budget sheet or checklist, at important milestones.
Forms and third-party content
When you submit a form, such as a quote request, a listing claim or the newsletter sign-up, the details you enter are sent to us so we can act on them; that is covered by the privacy policy, not by browser storage. Some pages may display embedded content, such as maps or videos, provided by other services. Those services may set their own cookies under their own policies when the content loads.
Questions
If you have a question about what is stored or would like help clearing it, write to us through the contact page. Please remember that we cannot see or recover anything stored in your browser, so we are unable to restore lost planner items or Academy progress on your behalf.
